DirectRooms.com highlights that Eilat will be the focus of many of the world's bird watchers as hundreds of enthusiasts head to the city and surrounding areas to watch thousands of migrating birds.

Eilat Spring Migration Festival is one of the main dates in the bird watching calendar as the region offers a chance to view millions of birds including many rare species and families not usually found at other times of the year.

Set within the Rift Valley, each year birds fill the skies and bushes throughout the area and bird enthusiasts come to visit from around the world. Local species that are sure to be seen include Laughing Dove and Palestine Sunbirds. Over at the North Beach in Eilat watchers can also view sea birds such as ducks and herons and the renowned Pied Kingfisher.

Many new species to the region are often identified each year and previous festivals have seen more than 200 species recorded at different events. This year the festival runs from 20th to 27th March 2011 and people staying in hotels in Eilat can join a number of free tours run by local guides in association with the Israel Ornithological Center.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "The Eilat migration season is a popular event with bird watches from many different countries all of whom will be searching for hotels in the best spots.
