Viennese musician recorded Strauss as wine tavern-music

The Viennese artist ViennaCC recorded in 2005 compositions by Johann Strauss and Richard Strauss with contrabass, guitar, harmonica, viola and piano. The goal was to combine the optimistic affirmation of the Romantic movement with rustic mood of a wine tavern, in Vienna called Heuriger. And that means "proceed from the original notes, fathom interpretative freedom, play instruments more hard and rhythmic, mix it like a pop-song", ViennaCC explains.

The compilation of songs called "Strauss Serenade" is interesting for people who like Strauss and folk-music.

In contrast to orchestral recordings where groups of instruments are recorded with one microphone, ViennaCC recorded every single instrument on one track. The recordings were mixed with modern effects commonly used in pop-music-productions like compression.
ViennaCC: "Orchestra-music in a wine-tavern, old works with modern techniques, that is fascinating! I connect Vienna with Strauss-waltz and wine. My recordings are a combination of these two Vienna-cliches, my Vienna-feeling."

The music is distributed since summer 2005 online. More information under http://www.vienna.cc/kunst/

The artistname ViennaCC comes from the internet-website. ViennaCC runs the website "Vienna! See! See!" (www.vienna.cc), a musicproduction and a musiclabel (ViennaCC). The goal of the website is to present Vienna in text, photos and music. ViennaCC: "There are many websites about Vienna. But getting inspired by the city of Vienna and working it up to a synthesis of arts, that is new. On my website I offer photos, text, music together with stories, links and more."
