Biker clubs and motoring enthusiasts from across Thailand will flock to the 2011 Samui Bike Week, which takes place in Koh Samui in May.

All the big bike brands - including the iconic Harley-Davidson - are expected to attend the festivities and more than 1,000 riders were involved in the 2010 event.

The organisers have promised to pull out all the stops in coming up with entertainment for this year's celebration. As well as the wide array of bikes on display, there will be a cowboy show, local cuisine, live music and a large number of shops.

Social responsibility also plays an important role in Samui Bike Week, which seeks to encourage peaceful and collaborative riding, regardless of where people are from.

A cut of the profits will be donated to the Green Island Project, launched in 2007 in a bid to ensure the island's long-term sustainability by protecting its environment.

The event takes place on May 6th to 7th at Chaweng Lake, located in the north-east of Koh Samui.

Bike fanatics thinking of booking accommodation near the venue can find a large selection of Koh Samui hotels at

The Chaweng Regent Beach Resort is just minutes from the banks of the lake.
