DirectRooms.com divulges that Malaga is to host the premier volleyball teams from universities around Europe who will be going up against each other in July to see who's crowned European champions.

The 8th European Universities Beach Volleyball Championship will see teams from Great Britain, Switzerland, Turkey, Portugal, France and Russia amongst others competing along with the hosts Spain. The competition will feature up to 32 male and female teams with each match consisting of three sets which in total are expected to last for about an hour.

Spectators looking to attend from Malaga hotels to cheer on their own countries can head to the University of Malaga where the event will run from 17th to 22nd July 2011. The rules follow that of standard matches where teams made up of two players will face each other on a sand court measuring an official 16 x 8m.

All the matches will be played on four courts divided for male and female contestants and will run from 09:00 to 21:00 each day. Attendees can therefore see up to 12 matches occurring on each court during the first few days.

The competition will be split into two phases, with the first stage seeing seeded teams playing and then as players progress to the second stage the elimination rounds start.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "The tournament attracts a great deal of interest and hotels are due to be overrun with the teams and spectators."
