Consumer Guide to Bariatric Surgery Joins Forces with the Obesity Action Coalition

Ceatus Media Group's web portal Consumer Guide to Bariatric Surgery supports the hard work and efforts of the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC), a nonprofit education and advocacy group that gives voice to individuals affected by obesity.

By all accounts, obesity rates in the United States are soaring, and childhood obesity rates have tripled over the past 30 years. Nearly one in three U.S. children is overweight or obese, and obesity-related diseases previously seen only in adults are increasingly being diagnosed in children, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes.

Established in 2005, the OAC works on federal, state and grassroots levels to buck these trends by expanding treatment options, improving education on the risks associated with obesity and changing the public dialogue about obesity.

Consumer Guide to Bariatric Surgery will spotlight the group's accomplishments in a full-length feature article and provide a simple platform for its 1 million yearly visitors to donate to this worthy organization.

"The heart of the OAC's mission involves giving voice to people affected by obesity, and we intend to use our platform to help turn up the volume on their important message," said Denise Mann, editorial director of the Consumer Guide to Bariatric Surgery. "We feel that our educational objectives are very much in line with those of the OAC, and we fully support all that this group has done to change the playing field for people who are afflicted with obesity."

"As a company, Ceatus Media Group is proud to support the OAC's worthwhile programs. We will use our portal to further educate consumers about obesity and to encourage donations to the OAC," said David Evans, Ph.D., CEO of Ceatus Media Group.

"The OAC is excited to be a part of this collaboration. Raising awareness of obesity and increasing access to safe and effective treatment options are just a few of the tactics the OAC utilizes to proactively help all Americans affected by obesity," said Joe Nadglowski, OAC President and CEO. "Through this collaboration, we feel the OAC will be able to strengthen our messaging and increase our membership tremendously."
