The Six Senses Phuket Race Week is due to begin on July 20th, with 39 crews currently registered to take part in the five-day regatta.
Participants and spectators have plenty to entertain themselves at the event on top of the world-class yacht racing.
A number of parties have been organised to coincide with the occasion, as well as music and barbeques.
Phuket Race Week was named best Asian regatta of the year at the Asia Boating Awards 2011 in Hong Kong last month and is only the second Thai spectacle to win the prize.
Grenville Fordham, managing director of organising firm Image Asia, said in a statement: "We're delighted with the accolade, which reflects what our participants have been telling us for the several years."
The occasion is now in its eighth year and includes a range of courses to suit different standards of sailors, from high-octane competitions for serious professionals to fun trips around nearby islands for less-experienced seamen.
For crews taking part, there will be free beer, wine and spirits from 19:00 local time every evening.
If sailing enthusiasts are keen to browse Phuket hotels, they can use to look at a wide range of options, including the Patong Merlin Hotel.
