Macy's West and Entercom Portland Work to Furnish the Children's Cancer Association's Unique Caring Cabin

(Portland, OR) The Children’s Cancer Association (CCA) has designed and built a retreat home, known as the Caring Cabin, to welcome children with life-threatening illnesses, their caregivers and their immediate and extended family for private weekend or week long getaways. The first of its kind in the Western United States, the Caring Cabin is located on 24 acres of wooded land with a small private lake, one mile from the beach in Pacific City, Oregon.

In partnership with Macy’s West and Entercom Portland, the Children’s Cancer Association has developed a very special Caring Cabin housewarming registry at www.macys.com/caringcabin that will allow individuals to purchase finishings and furnishings for every room of the cabin.

“This gift will touch hundreds of families in their time of need,” says Regina Ellis Founder/Executive Director of the CCA. “We’re thrilled that the community can get together and help make donations to furnish the cabin. It could be a throw pillow or pots and pans. These housewarming gifts truly show the warmth of our community.”

Every registry purchase is 100% tax deductible and macys.com has generously agreed to donate 20% of every gift purchased to the CCA as an additional donation towards this project.

The Children’s Cancer Association is a Portland-based organization that annually serves more than 12,000 children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, their families and the medical professionals who care for them.

The Children’s Cancer Association is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that was established in loving memory of five-year-old Alexandra Ellis who courageously fought cancer for two and half years before she died on May 7, 1995. In the year of Alexandra’s death, CCA was born. Since then, CCA has worked to offer award-winning programs, along with information, advocacy and support that help enrich the quality of life for seriously ill children and their families.
