DirectRooms.com highlights that anyone heading to Aruba at the beginning of September is being invited to run in a 10 kilometre run which will test the fitness of runners and also hopes to raise money for local charities on the island.

The Turibana to Santa Cruz 10K race is now in its 32nd edition and will see a host of runners joining in with the road race.

The race begins at 05:30 to avoid the hot Caribbean heat in Noord at the Panaderia del Campo; runners will then cross the finish line by the Betico Croes Sports Complex. Runners looking to take part can register from 1st August and the race itself will be held on 4th September 2011.

As well as running for fun participants can consider raising sponsorship money for some of the island's charities. The donkey sanctuary is one example which relies purely on donations to look after the 90 or so donkeys they have in their care. There is no admission charge to visit the sanctuary and all the workers are volunteers which makes the organisation entirely non-profit.

Visitors using a hotel Palm Beach can take part or go along to watch the race and all the donations to the runners and their respective charities will be greatly appreciated.

Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "The run will hopefully raise awareness of the charities and lead to more people coming along to take part which will cause hotels to be busier."
