November 16, 2011 - Weber's Inn, the premiere Ann Arbor hotel and restaurant, joined JPRA, A.R. Brouwer, and attendees last Thursday, November 10th to celebrate the completion of the recently renovated facilities on Weber's property. A special architectural event was conducted to showcase the updates, while giving attendees, which included architectural professionals, subcontractors, media guests, and University of Michigan architecture students, a glimpse at how this hotel in Ann Arbor is following trends in the industry, while helping to stimulate the local community.

During the event, guests were able to interact with the subcontractors of the renovations, and discuss the materials and techniques used throughout the project. After lunch, Mr. Ken Weber, along with Mark von Werder of JPRA Architects, and Steve Brouwer, President of A.R. Brouwer Company, discussed the advantages of renovation vs new construction.

Mark von Werder went on to discuss the specific strategies and design of the project. "We understood that Weber's has been around for years and they're a regional icon," mentioned von Werder during his presentation. "We had to be careful we didn't affect that too strongly, but could still give the hotel and restaurant the updates it needed. Ken has been very generous in the time and money he has been willing to put into the project, as he understands the positive impact it can have on a business and community."

After the presentation, guests took a tour around the hotel to see for themselves the beautiful transformation the Ann Arbor hotel and restaurant has gone through, as both the interior and exterior of Weber's facilities underwent renovations during the three-year project. The exterior of the main entrance to the hotel is completely updated, giving guests that first glimpse of the gorgeous facilities in and around the rest of the building. The outside of the restaurant also took a face lift, balancing a combination of exotic and traditional materials to continue the crisp, clean, and contemporary look of the new building. Other highlights of the Ann Arbor hotel renovations include a new pool area, downstairs lobby, and wedding and banquet facilities.

"So far, we've had a great response from employees, guests, and visitors," stated Ken Weber. "The entire project was kept moving forward efficiently because of the cooperation and support of the city, as well as the commitment and expertise of the contractors, architects, and subcontractors involved in the renovations."

In his closing remarks, Steve Brouwer mentioned, "Looking around the room, I can see how many people have been impacted by Weber's. With attendees that worked here when Weber's first opened, and people who have celebrated family milestones, and seeing multiple generations of the Weber family here, it is obvious how important this business has been to the community over the last 75 years."

Weber's brings anything one could ever want in a boutique hotel and a leading steakhouse restaurant to the quaint city of Ann Arbor. And with these new renovations, residents and guests alike agree that Weber's is definitely leading the way in contemporary design and high end service.
