"Heartsong," a new book by Raven Emond, has been released by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc.

Nadia, distraught by the loss of her infant and another failing marriage, is struggling to find meaning in her life. Starting in California, she impulsively embarks on a dangerous journey of hitchhiking and walking across the great Mojave Desert in the summer, with no money and no provisions for survival. Her journey, fraught with obstacles and extraordinary events, ultimately leads her to Sister Sarah in Blue Bayou, Louisiana. However, her inner journey is far from over as she continues to struggle with her own pain and the inequities she see all around her in the Deep South.

About the Author:
A native of California, Raven Emond received a B.A. in Psychology from Brooklyn University and a Master of Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, from Hunter College. She currently works as a social worker for an adult day care program in California. In her spare time, Raven enjoys drawing, writing, dancing, and gardening.
