December 01, 2011 (PRLEAP.COM) Health News
AllAboutVision.com has expanded its Safety Glasses and Eye Safety Q&A, explaining topics such as eye safety in the workplace, ratings for safety glasses and compliance with government regulations.

The Q&A features more than 20 questions from site visitors with answers from Associate Editor Dr. Gary Heiting and Dr. Burt Dubow of the AllAboutVision.com Advisory Board.

In addition to Q&A's, a chart of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Hazard Assessment eTool shows the eye safety risks associated with common workplace activities.

The Safety Glasses and Eye Safety Q&A is part of a larger Eye Safety section on AllAboutVision.com. The section includes articles on the basics of eye safety, protective eyewear for sports, safety eyewear for children and how to handle eye injuries.

Approximately 2.4 million eye injuries occur each year in the United States, according to Prevent Blindness America. At least 90 percent of these injuries could be prevented by following safety precautions, such as wearing safety glasses or other protective eyewear.

Site visitors can submit their eye safety questions via the form at the bottom of the Q&A or the Eye Safety section main page.
