December 10, 2011 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
When HP abruptly killed off its TouchPad Tablet in August and announced the company's withdrawal from the PC hardware market, citing "The Tablet Effect" (i.e.,the IPad) as a primary reason, it also slashed the price of the 49-day-old tablet by 80 percent to dump inventory. This inadvertently created its own effect.

The new infographic, entitled "The TouchPad Effect (Or, The Tale Of A Zombie Tablet)" was posted today on the brand-new tablet site, NewTabletsNews.com. The infographic provides an illustrative overview of the tablet's wild saga that began this summer with HP's abrupt cancellation of the tablet pc, the indefinite suspension of its WebOS operating platform, and cumulating with Friday's announcement by new HP CEO Meg Whitman that the company will now "contribute webOS to open source license".

NewTabletNews.com is a week-old site, developed and just launched by tablet pc enthusiasts to provide a comprehensive source for the latest news, reviews an analysis for enthusiasts, owners and vendors of touchscreen tablets. The "TouchPad Effect" infographic is the new site's inaugural post.
