Redesigning Innovation, 4PSA Server Controller Released

November 03, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
4PSA, a custom solutions provider for servers announced today the public launch of 4PSA Server Controller. The new software is the result of over one year of research and development. 4PSA Server Controller is designed to monitor multiple Linux/UNIX servers and to manage accounts on Plesk™ servers from a single, centralized, Microsoft Windows interface.

In today’s rapid paced, performance oriented hosting industry, managing servers from a centralized location is a dream for many server owners. Centralized management interfaces increase the provider’s efficiency and deliver a superior business control. 4PSA Server Controller brings Linux/Unix servers to the Windows desktop. Tasks that required command line scripting or many page loads and clicks on traditional browser management interfaces can be performed in several seconds in 4PSA Server Controller.

4PSA Server Controller server monitoring component is able to provide an internal overview of the monitored servers’ parameters. In order to interact with the remote servers 4PSA Server Controller uses mon4psa, an Open Architecture Linux/Unix daemon. Mon4psa monitors server services and sends results to 4PSA Server Controller using a XML based protocol. The daemon is written in C and threaded in order to minimize the monitoring overhead. Administrators can easily extend the default set of monitored parameters.

4PSA Server Controller Plesk™ server management component is able to administer client accounts, domains, and IP addresses on remote Plesk™ servers. “The current browser administration model is time consuming. With 4PSA Server Controller, you have your servers at a mouse click. It does not matter if you want to create a domain, edit a client or delete an IP address. You can do this in several seconds, no matter how many servers you have. There is no need to login, switch between browser pages, wait, etc.” explained Mircea Nedelcu, Senior Developer, 4PSA. In order to automate and speed-up the Plesk™ account creation process, administrators are able to define client and domain templates, which can be used with all servers available in the system.

4PSA Server Controller automates the server monitoring and Plesk™ management based on standard, reusable processes. “It does not matter if a company has one server, several servers, or thousands of servers, 4PSA Server Controller provides increased server control and real-time management features”, also added Mr. Nedelcu. In order to monitor more than one server from the same interface window, administrators can use the Multi-Graph feature to view the monitoring graphs in the same time.

4PSA Server Controller is compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000, Microsoft Windows XP, and Microsoft Windows 2003 running .NET 1.1 or later Framework version.

The 4PSA monitoring daemon mon4psa is compatible with a wide range of Linux distributions and FreeBSD operating systems. For compatibility information please check the release notes.
