Leading cyclists will be competing in Le Tour de Langkawi 2012, which is taking place in Malaysia from February 24th to March 4th.
The 17th edition of the annual cycling tournament will feature the tagline "Ready for the World" and will be aiming to prove that it is worthy of becoming part of the Union Cycliste Internationale's (UCI's) prestigious World Tour series.
To this end, the 2012 competition will be bigger and better than ever, with 22 professionals teams set to compete, including more top-tier UCI pros than ever.
Among them will be the last two winners of the tour, 2010 champion Jose Rujano and last year's leader Yonnatta Monsalve, while competing teams include US outfit Garmin-Cervelo and Pro Team Astana of Kazakhstan.
The 2012 challenge kicks off with an individual time trial in Putrajaya, with subsequent stages to take in locations such as Bentong, Kuantan, Genting Highlands and, for the first time, Terengganu.
In total, cyclists will need to travel 1,415.5 km if they want to claim the grand prize.
