Soaring Spirits Loss Foundation (SSLF) is pleased to announce the expansion of its Camp Widow™ program to the east coast. Camp Widow™ is a two-day workshop for widowed people, that provides practical tools, valuable resources and peer-based support and encouragement for transforming lives following the death of a spouse or life partner. "This is an exciting milestone for Soaring Spirits Loss Foundation and our Camp Widow™ program. By expanding the camp to the east coast, we can serve and reach out to a broader range of the widowed community," said Michele Neff Hernandez, founder and executive director of SSLF. "I am so proud of the positive impact Camp Widow™ has had on hundreds of widowed people here in the U.S and around the world."

Camp Widow™ East Coast will be held at the Myrtle Beach Marriott Resort and Spa at Grand Dunes in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina from April 20-22, 2012. Full event registration includes: a choice of up to ten workshops over the weekend; one ticket to the welcome reception; keynote address; access to the camp bookstore; the opportunity to participate in an off-site lunch time activity; one ticket to the Soaring Spirits Semi-formal Award Banquet; and one ticket for the farewell breakfast buffet. The workshops will feature renowned national and international speakers on the subject of grief recovery.

SSLF created and launched the extraordinary Camp Widow™ program in 2009 in San Diego and this year will mark the fourth annual Camp Widow™ on the west coast. Widowed people from nearly every state in the U.S. and five countries – Africa, England, Singapore, Canada, and Iraq have attended this amazing workshop. "It was simply the best thing I could have done for myself. Maybe saved my own life at least helped turn a corner," said Paula, an attendee at Camp Widow™ 2011.

SSLF founder and executive director, Michele Neff Hernandez and SSLF board of director, Michelle Dippel – are the brains behind the idea for Camp Widow™; both of whom are widows. They discovered that they could help one another work through the grieving process because they were living the same harsh reality. From that came the thought of creating a gathering place for widowed people in search of answers, support and hope. "This has been an amazing journey and our ultimate goal is to take Camp Widow™ global," said Miss Hernandez.
