The Phuket Invitational Car Rally will see families exploring different parts of the island in a fun and enriching way in March 2012.

Billed by organisers as a "family car treasure hunt with a difference", the event will be held on March 11th and sees participants travelling around Phuket's most beautiful and interesting locales.

Though set up by race professionals, the rally is aimed at a general audience and is geared towards being accessible for all, focusing on interesting stops and quirky trials that are well within everyone's capabilities.

Up to 50 cars will be accepted to take part, with a 2,000 baht (£41.60) entry fee to be paid for the driver and navigator, plus an additional 250 baht per passenger, though kids under 12 can ride for free.

The price includes a map of Phuket, a car sticker and two free T-shirts, as well as the cost of lunch and dinner.

Registration begins at 09:00 local time at Chalong Pier Beer Garden ahead of a 10:00 start, with results and a prizegiving dinner taking place at the same venue at 17:00.
