Plan Ahead for a Safe St. Patrick's Day

Callahan Law - Even if you aren't Irish, there are plenty of St. Patrick's Day events throughout Washington State that can be enjoyed by those who just want to pretend for the day. However, if you plan on participating in these festivities and enjoying a Guinness or two, you need to plan ahead to ensure everyone gets home safe and no one has to worry about getting a driving under the influence (DUI) charge.

Everyone knows that St. Patrick's Day events typically include drinking. Because the holiday falls on a weekend this year, the number of people attending these events may be increased. In an effort to crack down on impaired drivers, Washington State police departments will be patrolling the roads from March 5-18 as part of their St. Patrick's Day "Drive Hammered, Get Nailed" campaign. The Target Zero Teams project is using additional grant money to put more law enforcement on the roads during this time.

While leprechauns won't save you from a DUI, you can save yourself by planning your festivities ahead of time this weekend. If you are going out with a group, select a designated driver to abstain from alcohol and get you home safely. You can also schedule a taxi van to take everyone to and from the event.

If you or someone you care about end up getting a Washington State DUI, you should immediately contact an experienced defense attorney to handle your charges. Callahan Law provides DUI defense to those accused of drunk driving and is available for free consultations.
