Employer brand the focus of HR professionals in 2012

Creative, experienced and talented human resource professionals are expected to be the most sought after in the sector, according to the 13th edition of the Global Salary Survey by international recruitment consultancy Robert Walters.

Due to talent shortages across most markets in the country, organisations were seeking HR professionals that could be creative and analytical in addressing staffing needs.

This trend is expected to continue in 2012, with a strong focus on robust attraction strategies and sourcing talented professionals that will make a difference to an organisation's profitability.

Robert Walters Director of human Resources and Safety - Australia, Erica Lindberg, said "The fall out from the global financial crisis is expected to have organisations seeking professionals who will have the greatest impact on their human resources functions. Employers are expected to focus on rebuilding trust with their employees and revisit their marketing recruitment strategies to ensure their employee brand remains attractive. There is an indication that strong tertiary qualified human resources and health and safety professionals will be able to demand the highest salaries, particularly in the industry sectors such as mining, engineering and construction."

The survey also found that salaries remained stable in 2011, with the only professionals seeing significant increases in remuneration were compensation and benefits managers with strong analytical skills due to the shortage of these professionals in the market. Strong health and safety professionals sought non-monetary benefits, such as attractive rosters and a company commitment to safety first.

Now in its 13th year, the Robert Walters Global Salary Survey is the most comprehensive of its kind. Compiled by the company's dedicated research team and covering all 23 countries and disciplines in which Robert Walters specialises, the latest edition offers an overview of salaries and recruitment trends from 2011, as well as those expected in 2012.
