Amateur athletes and world-famous runners alike will participate in a memorable skyscraper race event this June at the annual Standard Chartered Taipei 101 Run Up Race.

This year's edition will take place on June 10th and will once again see thousands of competitors running up 91 floors of the monolithic Taipei 101 building, comprising a total of 2,046 steps.

Sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank, the event is open both to ordinary people looking for a unique challenge and to well-known professional runners such as New Zealand's Melissa Moon, who has confirmed she will take part in this year's run.

Cash prizes and trophies are available to those who place near the front of the pack, while everyone who completes the run will receive a certificate to prove it.

People wishing to compete in the self-challenge individual category can do so for a fee of 500 Taiwanese dollars (£10.50), with entry limited to 2,500 people.

Those in this group will start running at 10:50 local time, with elite runners and the fundraising relay and corporate teams beginning earlier.

Prospective participants can access a wide variety of Taipei accommodation at AsiaRooms.com, including the ECFA Hotel Taipei.
