ST. LOUIS — A-Mrazek Moving Systems, a St. Louis-based agent of United Van Lines, has donated both trucks and manpower to help local nonprofits and businesses deliver donations of clothing, food and personal-hygiene items to aid Hurricane Katrina victims both in St. Louis and along the Gulf Coast.

St. Louis Christian Center
On Tuesday, Sept. 13, A-Mrazek delivered 100 boxes of clothing, personal-care items and food on behalf of the St. Louis Christian Center to the Salvation Army Depot in Granite City for distribution to evacuees now in the St. Louis-area. St. Louis Christian Center gathered donations from its congregation and expects to have another shipment to transport this week, which A-Mrazek will deliver free of charge as well. The newly gathered donations have filled a 26-foot trailer and are estimated to be an even larger shipment than the first.

Energizer
On Thursday, Sept. 15, A-Mrazek picked up 80 boxes of clothing on behalf of Energizer from the company’s headquarters at Maryville Center and from Spectrum Health Care. A-Mrazek transported the donations to the Edward Jones branch in Denham Springs, La.

Humane Society of Missouri
A-Mrazek also offered its services to the Humane Society of Missouri (HSMO) when it was pursuing sending shipments of pet goods to shelters in Hattiesburg, Miss., and Gonzales, La. However, the project is on hold at this time because the intended shelters are currently overwhelmed with donations. HSMO and A-Mrazek have agreed to partner in the future when additional services are needed.

“We are proud to be able to provide this invaluable service at this difficult time,” said Dave Sabada, president of A-Mrazek Moving Systems. “By using our knowledge in transportation and storage, we hope that our efforts make Hurricane Katrina victims’ lives a little bit easier.”
