June 19, 2012 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Los Angeles 06/19/12 - Micah Ian Wright (Stormwatch: Team Achilles, The Angry Beavers, Transformers) is returning to comics with Duster, a 215 page graphic novel, with fundraising commencing at Kickstarter.com early this morning. Visitors to the Kickstarter campaign will find the first 39 pages of the book in full color available as a free download. Co-written with writing partner Jay Lender (Phineas and Ferb, SpongeBob SquarePants), the book is drawn by Argentine artists Cristian Mallea (Gayolas, El Eternauta) and JOK (Mixtape, RedBall 6).

Duster takes place at the close of the European conflict in World War, and tells the story of a war-widowed female cropduster pilot who must defend her daughter and her neighbors against a planeload of escaping Nazis who have crashed in her West Texas town. The action-packed story examines women's changing roles in society during the war years.

"We have a great story to tell and we think people will want to hear it," says Wright, "and with some help, we can all make it happen together."

The Duster Kickstarter campaign is scheduled to run for a month, and aims to duplicate the success of other recent Kickstarter comics campaigns like Mark Andrew Smith & James Stokoe's "Sullivan's Sluggers" graphic novel, and Paul Jenkins & Umberto Ramos' "Fairy Quest."
