Betadine Australia Launches "Guess That Gargle"

Australians young and old can get into the spirit of the games early this year, thanks to a new competition from Betadine Sore Throat Gargle called 'Guess That Gargle'.

The competition, now open, gives Australians the chance to win $1,000 every week by guessing the national anthem being performed. With one twist, the anthems will be gargled, not sung.

The national tunes, some well known and others not so well known, will be performed by two classically trained Sydney based opera singers, Blake Fischer and Rebecca Currier.

Blake explains: "In my 15 years performing in Opera Houses both in Australia and across the world, gargling with Betadine is an important part of my routine when I have a sore throat. So much so that if I was somewhere I couldn't get it, I would ask my parents to post me some. So while I'm accustomed to gargling, this is the first time I've performed in gargle!"

"My voice is my trade, so I know I need to maintain it and Betadine helps me do that."

It seems however not all Australians share Blake's throat care regime. A new survey by Betadine found 66%1 of Australians will try and battle on and continue to work if they have a sore throat. With the antibacterial and antiviral power of povidone-iodine, the Betadine Sore Throat range of gargles offers support against sore throats. This gargle form of treatment offers an advantage of targeting the site and cause of bacterial or viral throat infections.

Luke Fitzgerald, Director of Sanofi Consumer Healthcare (manufacturer of Betadine) encouraged people to give it a go and enter Guess That Gargle to be in the running to win one of the four weekly $1,000 giveaways.

"Guess That Gargle is a great way of reminding Australians about the value of reaching for a Sore Throat Gargle if you feel the discomfort of a sore or dry throat. The competition is also going to be great fun and we're looking forward to seeing plenty of people guessing the anthems being gargled."
