Sept. 16th will be the day the world met zouk. This is the hope of thousands of zouk dancers who will perform a flashmob to highlight this new latin dance.

Since everybody knows what is salsa or tango it is time to introduce zouk. The event is spontanuously organised through the social media. There's no sponsoring, no commercial motive and not even a formal organisation. Yet, it will happen in New York, LA, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Tokio, Berlin, Singapore, Bangkok, Sydney, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Kiev, Dubai and in total 95 cities around the world.

The dance originated in Brazil but has spread all over the world in the last decade. At first it was danced on zouk music from the Caribbean, hence the name zouk.

Nowadays it is danced to a variety of pop, r&b and worldmusic. This makes it a very contemporary form of partner dancing. It is caracterized by fluid, wavy bodymovements, much slower than tango or salsa.

Besides showcasing zouk dancing the event is a demonstration of the power of the social media, that can organise people from around the globe, breaking all barriers of nationality, race, religion etc.

Making this flashmob happen is showing the world a different way to solve the big problems for mankind. If it is possible to organise a flashmob, then perhaps it is also possible to overcome war, famine and global warming.

"We are one" is the motto. For more information www.izfm.org
