In just a couple of weeks the nation will be preparing to celebrate New Year's Eve, bidding a fond farewell to a fantastic 2012 for the United Kingdom and welcoming 2013.

As one of the most celebrated events of the calendar, there are plenty of parties scheduled across towns and cities nationwide. In the capital, London's revellers look likely to be rolling back the years with a collection of vintage and retro themed events, according to allfancydress.com.

Ladies and gents will be able to get all dolled up in their finest 40's clobber with a 'Blitz Party' hosted in The Arches, in Shoreditch. With a stunning evening set in a wartime themed East End air raid shelter and DJs playing the finest records from the decade party-goers will be able to wave their Union Jacks with pride.

Across the city in Central London, Dirty Martini is also hosting a glamorous 1920's Flapper Party in Covent Garden. Party-goers can toast the New Year in style with a complimentary cocktail on arrival and beautifully vintage tunes mixed by the venue's DJs all night long.

Mark Heaton, of allfancydress.com, said: "The roaring 20s and the war-time 40s are both fascinating periods in British history and at All Fancy Dress we have experienced a growing popularity in these decades throughout the latter part of 2012. These eras also gave birth to some of the most sophisticated and glamorous outfits for guys and girls alike.

"New Year's Eve is one night of the year where we all like to dress to impress and the 1920's and 40's were certainly golden periods for elegance and charm."

Party-goers with tickets for vintage New Year's Eve events can get set for a night on the tiles with fantastic 1920s flapper and gangster outfits as well as a host of wartime costumes from All Fancy Dress.
