Yew Chung International School of Shanghai's (YCIS Shanghai's) Century Park Campus (Pudong) Co-Principals are very proud to announce that for the third consecutive year, a YCIS Shanghai student has achieved the "Highest mark in the world for Cambridge IGCSE Foreign Language Chinese Mandarin."

In 2010 and 2011, the world-renowned international school also had students Erica Zhang and Ha Yeon Park achieve this award respectively. This year, Andrew Cheong is the third consecutive recipient of this prestigious award. Andrew speaks English as his first language, and joined the school just two years ago. He is a committed and dedicated student who demonstrates a great interest in learning Chinese, and in studying Chinese culture.

When asked about Andrew's success, Co-Principal Mary Yu said "We are very proud of Andrew for his achievement, and of our Chinese department for their efforts that consistently earn outstanding results."

YCIS offers the unique richness and diversity of both Eastern and Western cultures that equip children to be bilingual, global-minded, competitive, appreciating and caring global citizens, an important trait in the growing global community. A strong focus on bilingual education, including a strong focus on mandarin studies; and the co-teaching model of Western (Native English speaking) and Chinese teachers in classrooms, expose students to two of the world's most commonly used languages, whilst lowering the student to teacher ratio.

YCIS continues to develop students' linguistic and academic capabilities as it consolidates itself amongst the top international schools in China.
