Organisations to invest in sales and marketing professionals

March 20, 2013 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Hiring of sales and marketing professionals will remain a priority for organisations looking to increase revenue and acquire market share from competitors, according to the latest Global Salary Survey from specialist recruitment consultancy Robert Walters.

The survey found that experienced revenue generators are expected to receive the biggest salary increases in 2013. For example, sales managers are tipped to enjoy increases of up to 13%, and state sales managers are forecast to receive increases of up to 9%.

Chris Newsham, Robert Walters Associate Director of sales and marketing explains, "During the downturn organisations really saw the value of strong sales and marketing professionals in maintaining revenue and increasing market share. This trend should continue moving forward, and organisations will pay a premium for professionals who can achieve immediate sales. The best candidates will value good organisational culture, work/life balance and flexibility, so it's important companies also take this into account. We expect the majority of hiring to be driven the growing ICT, aged care, resources and FMCG sectors."

The survey also found;
  • There will be increased demand for strategic and insight-driven marketing professionals, as many organisations view the customer experience as a major factor in increasing market share
  • Oil and gas projects in Brisbane will recommence, which may lead to a shortage of marketing and sales professionals experienced within the resources industry
  • Demand for online and digital marketing professionals who excel in e commerce will be high as organisation focus on increasing revenue from online channels

  • Now in its 14th year, the Robert Walters Global Salary Survey is the most comprehensive of its kind. Compiled by the company's dedicated research team and covering all 24 countries and disciplines in which Robert Walters specialises, the latest edition offers an overview of salaries and recruitment trends from 2012, as well as those expected in 2013.
