Covent Garden Lights up at Christmas

November 28, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Entertainment News
Parents and friends sipped mulled wine and munched on mince pies. The Town Crier bellowed, marking the commencement of the Christmas event. His cries echoed around the historic buildings and shops of Covent Garden

During the two hour Christmas celebration, crowds were treated to a performance from the X Factor runners up, quartet G4. It was G4 who did the honours; switching on the Christmas lights. Fans were delighted when they sang a selection of songs from their new album.

The West End cast of Stomp performed some rhythmic pieces from their hit show. Street dancers weaved their way in and out of the crowds adding a carnival atmosphere to the event.

The children were not disappointed, Santa Claus made an appearance. Santa delighted his avid fans pointing out his Christmas Grotto. His Grotto is located in the piazza of Covent Garden close to the huge Christmas tree. Santa's Grotto at Covent Garden will be open daily until the 24th December, when obviously he has special deliveries to complete!
The atmosphere at Covent Garden that evening was filled with Christmas spirit. There wasn't a Scrooge in sight.

The Covent Garden Christmas lights add to the charm and ambience of the area. Make a day of it. Covent Garden is ideal for Christmas shopping and is in the perfect location for a visit to a West End Theatre.
