May 1, 2013 - TORONTO, ON: Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation is thrilled to be selected by the Canadian Tamil Congress as the charity for the 5th Annual Tamil Canadian Walk, held September 15th at Scarborough's Thomson Park in support of children with disabilities.

The Canadian Tamil Congress made this announcement at a special launch on April 30th at Scarborough's Grand Baccuss. The announcement featured 10-year-old Emma, a Holland Bloorview Ambassador, who gave a moving speech about her remarkable recovery at Holland Blooview after a life-threatening disease left her unable to move or speak.

The annual walk-a-thon draws hundreds of walkers, donors, community associations, business groups and community leaders from the Tamil Canadian community. Every year it raises tens of thousands of dollars for its charity of choice.

"We are honoured that the Canadian Tamil Congress has chosen Holland Bloorview to direct its funds raised at the Tamil Canadian Walk," says Tracey Bailey, President and CEO of Holland Bloorview Foundation. "Through this event, the Tamil community will help change the world for kids with disabilities by supporting innovative and cutting-edge research, care and education."

"Holland Bloorview is a world-class hospital for children with disabilities," says Christeen Seevaratnam, Co-Chair of the Tamil Canadian Walk. "We are thrilled to make a difference by raising funds for this important hospital, and bringing smiles on the faces of so many kids."
