Dangerously Large Illustration Goes Mobile

June 27, 2013 - The lifelong illustration project known as the ForeverScape is over two football fields long and growing, now in multiple dimensions. The paper alone weighs over 15 Lbs. Portland, OR, artist, Vance Feldman is seeking to create a cross-platform mobile gaming and viewing app with the help of the Kickstarter campaign, ForeverScape Infinite.

The artist claims that the "biggest irony is that the best way to view this ridiculously large drawing it is right in the palm of your hand." The application will include social gaming leaderboards, Where's Waldo-esque scavenger hunts, a Google Maps like zooming interface, tile-arranging games and maybe even a side-scroller. Besides finding thousands of objects hidden throughout the expansive surreal universe, users can share and comment at particular coordinates.

The illustration project started as a pen and ink sketch of a hillside nearly four years ago, today it stands to surpass the world's longest drawings at 700 pages and counting. In addition to connecting every page from left-to-right the pages now align vertically to form a continuous image in both directions; it is periodic just like the table of elements. Each page of the madman's landscape is meticulously scanned and viewable at foreverscape.com.

Unlike many of the so-called "World's Longest Drawings" the ForeverScape is obsessively detailed, culturally poignant and anything but shallow in its subject matter. "Seeing it in person is one thing- and rare. Having it available at any time and at any level of detail, now there's a mixture of medieval and modern."

The Kickstarter campaign needs your support before it's too late.
