Kustom Koachworks, Inc. Joins National Team Revamping a Moore, OK Jeep

July 2, 2013 - When a category-5 tornado hit the town of Moore, Oklahoma on May 20, 2013, many were caught unprepared. That includes Bryan Hutton and his two-year-old son, Ricky, who were visiting Hutton's parents when the deadly tornado formed. Fortunately, they were able to get to a storm shelter on time; but when they emerged after the tornado passed, the whole neighborhood was flattened.

Hutton took his Jeep JK Rubicon, nicknamed "Stomper," out of his parent's destroyed garage and he and Ricky spent hours pulling debris off victims using the Jeep's winch. The father-son team helped people find loved ones, transported them to emergency services, and collected supplies. Hutton's wife, Brenda, is currently serving in Afghanistan and found out about the tornado online.

The Hutton family feared Stomper would be a total loss, but once Stomper's story hit the web, the off-roading community joined together and have donated parts, time, and expertise for the Jeep's renovation. Kustom Koachworks, Inc. and its sister shop, JKL Wrangler, will be stretching the Jeep JK.

"We are so happy to help out this amazing family who took charge and helped the tornado victims in their own way, which happened to be using a Jeep," says Eric Muilenberg, president of Kustom Koachworks, Inc. and JKL Wrangler. "Jeepers are a tight knit community and we always rally behind one another."

Kustom Koachworks, Inc.'s auto body Mesa shop is headquarters for JKL Wrangler, where Jeep owners take their builds to be stretched an extra 10 to 13 inches the perfect wheelbase for all types of off-roading.

The plan is to get Stomper's renovation completed by the time Brenda Hutton returns from Afghanistan.

"Stomper is a stock, two-door JK Wrangler right now," says Muilenberg. "But after Kustom Koachworks and JKL Wrangler are done with it, and all the other modifications our national partners are helping with, Stomper will be ready for anything."
