Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi, 5 Star Hotel in Abu Dhabi, Welcomes its Own Marine Biologist

ABU DHABI, UAE (July 4, 2013) – Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi, 5 star hotel in Abu dhabi, has welcomed its first resident biologist to the team. The resort's marine expert Arabella Willing, who has just joined the team from sister hotel Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa, will be organising workshops and excursions to educate and entertain guests at Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi, whilst ensuring that the hotel adheres to strict environmental standards behind the scenes. Being located right by the beautiful nine kilometre-long Saadiyat Beach, and surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Arabian Sea, Saadiyat is home to an abundance of wildlife including bottlenose dolphins.

Arabella studied marine biology at St. Andrews University. Prior to joining Park Hyatt Maldives, she was a volunteer teacher on a remote island in the very north of the country, educating some of the most isolated communities about sustainability, marine life and the effects of coral bleaching.
"Abu Dhabi has amazing wildlife, which many people are not even aware of. Now is the time to engage our guests and employees on how we can be more responsible towards our environment, to make sure that the endangered species that visit our island remain protected. We conduct various educational programmes with our employees through our corporate responsibility platform 'Hyatt Thrive'. We also entertain the children and teenagers in the resort with activities relating to nature and the sea," said Arabella.

The marine biologist joins the team just in time for the turtle nesting season. The first of the season's nests have been spotted on the beach strip in April. Every year the beautiful environmentally-protected beach on Saadiyat Island is home to one of the most endangered species in the world, the hawksbill turtle. These turtle nests can contain between 90 and 100 eggs and have been clearly marked by government entities to ensure hotel guests don't disturb the hatching, expected within 50-70 days of being laid. The turtles nest on the island every year between the months of April and August, after often having travelled half-way around the globe.
