What’s New in Narnia? – The Old Schoolhouse Magazine Steps “Into the Wardrobe”

December 08, 2005 (PRLEAP.COM) Lifestyle News
Dandridge, TN - Many fans of the Narnia series are anxious to see if the movie, The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, produced by Walden Media and distributed by Disney, will be as enchanting as the book by C.S. Lewis when it releases on December 9, 2005. In the Fall 2005 issue of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine, Amelia Harper, author of Literary Lessons from the Lord of the Rings, puts the Media Spotlight on The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe movie and also has an exclusive interview with Douglas Gresham, stepson of C.S. Lewis and the Creative and Artistic Director of the C.S. Lewis Company.

With four pages of stills from the movie, readers get an opportunity to admire the visual and cinematic treats, while comparing the photos with their own inner visions of Narnia. As a co-producer of the new Narnia movie, Mr. Gresham acted as an in-house Narnia expert. One of his responsibilities was to ensure that the film was faithful to the story and to Narnia itself. When asked if he thinks that C.S Lewis would be proud of the film, Mr. Gresham states, "Yes I do. I think he would have been particularly proud and pleased by the performances of the four superb young actors who play the Pevensies."

In Amelia Harper's exclusive interview with Mr. Gresham, he shares his insights on growing up with C.S. Lewis, what biographies of C.S. Lewis he recommends and why he is such an ardent supporter of homeschooling. In the three page article Mr. Gresham states, “I have formed the opinion that the entire concept of school is flawed…. As far as I am concerned, schools are for fish.” Homeschoolers and Narnia fans alike will get a chance to step into the wardrobe with these articles so that they can decide if they want to join the audience when The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe hits the big screen.
