SAYREVILLE, N.J. – Kaplan Companies has received site plan approval from the Sayreville Planning Board to construct Harbour Pointe at La Mer, to comprise seven, four-story buildings of condominiums off Ernston Road.

The planning board voted unanimously for the construction of the 190 luxury condominiums, designed with exterior French provincial-style architecture.

“This approval paves the way for Kaplan Companies to complete a project on land purchased in Sayreville more than 30 years ago,” said Jason Kaplan, president of Kaplan Companies. “This unique project combines the latest in home design with beautiful surroundings overlooking the Cheesequake River.”

Residents will park in a secure underground garage and then take an elevator to their private luxury condominiums, a concept that has been well received by local buyers. Prices begin at $329,000.

“We have seen an increased demand for condominium style living in more suburban locations,” Kaplan said.

Units will range from 1,100 to 1,400 square feet. Homes will have two bedrooms and two baths; penthouses are available with two-story units and lofts. Kaplan noted a sales trailer is already open at the site for anyone who wants to see how the homes are designed.

Residents at Harbour Pointe will find an upscale lifestyle with a two-story clubhouse, featuring a deck overlooking a pool, tennis and volleyball courts, and views of the Cheesequake River.

Kaplan said Harbour Pointe will be ideal for commuters because it is maintenance-free and minutes away from most major highways, including Routes 9, 18, 35, 440, 287, the Garden State Parkway and the New Jersey Turnpike.

Kaplan noted Harbour Pointe is the final section approved for La Mer, a planned development that will ultimately include 1,500 units. The company began constructing La Mer in 1986.

Kaplan Companies, a prominent Middlesex County housing developer, is now building quality communities in such towns as Perth Amboy, Carteret, Helmetta and Sayreville. The company has built more than 20,000 homes across New Jersey over the past 50 years, and has been involved in numerous projects in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Florida and Texas.
