Nussbaum Transportation Opens New Headquarters and Maintenance Facility
March 20, 2014 (PRLEAP.COM) Business NewsHUDSON, ILLINOIS – Nussbaum Transportation is excited to announce the relocation of its headquarters to a new campus with two buildings located along I-39 in Hudson, IL. Prompted by the need to expand their maintenance operation, the company purchased the land in 2011 and spent two years designing and constructing a new office building and maintenance facility. Envisioned as a contemporary lodge, the architectural design and construction materials are unique in the Midwest and the transportation industry.
"We wanted to redefine the standard for the industry," says Brent Nussbaum, CEO, "We wanted to build a place where drivers and employees would feel comfortable, appreciated and – in this fast-paced industry – centered and calm. We believe that by taking care of their needs, our team will do an even better job taking care of our customers."
The office building is a post and beam structure with high ceilings, exposed wooden trusses and custom iron detailing. Visitors are welcomed into an open reception area that pays homage to Nussbaum's long history with a wall mural depicting the company's first terminal and truck fleet. There are wood floors throughout and custom-designed molding. Windows maximize natural light, and sconces that recall streetlights line the main corridor.
The center of the building houses the bustling operations center, surrounded by departmental offices, conference spaces and training rooms. Behind the operations center is the employee lounge, which is separated by large sliding barn doors. The lounge area faces a pond and outdoor patio and features kitchen amenities, a dining area, bar-height cafe tables, and comfortable leather seating.
A short walk from the office building, the maintenance facility was designed with drivers and technicians in mind. It features convenient truck parking, roomy maintenance bays, a parts department, cross-dock, scales and quick access to the interstate. The facility is staffed for equipment inspections, repairs, and regular maintenance, and is stocked with supplies for the road.
On the second floor, a driver's lounge provides an area where drivers can relax and recharge. It includes benefits such as satellite TV, a kitchenette, private shower rooms, and workstations with Internet access for handling paperwork and personal business. Panoramic windows provide views to the pond and over the maintenance bays.
"It took two years and an unwavering commitment to the vision of a workplace that would attract the very best in the industry, and provide them an environment that compels them to stay," says Nussbaum, "It took an incredible design and build team who believed in our vision and challenged us to take it further."
