Abbotsford, BC – March 22, 2014 – The Mennonite Benevolent Society received Accreditation with Exemplary Standing through Accreditation Canada. Accreditation Canada is a not-for-profit organization that creates and assesses health care organizations based on a rigorous set of standards and accreditation programs.Accreditation Canada was formed 55 years ago with the mandate to help health care providers improve quality and safety in their organizations. With more than 1,200 clients and 6,000 hospitals participating, Accreditation Canada is the national standard of quality and safe health care in Canada.
Accreditation Canada focuses on five attributes of excellence – clinical leadership, people, processes, information and performance. Accreditation Canada has more than 500 trained surveyors who travel to each participating healthcare organization and conduct a comprehensive and thorough survey of the site. Menno Place had two surveyors on site for three days looking intently into every area of governance, leadership, clinical practice, communication, quality, safety and much more. This in-depth process gave the surveyors both details and breadth of understanding about the philosophy and operations at Menno Place.
Bernadette MacDonald, VP, Innovation and Development at Accreditation Canada said, "Congratulations! This achievement demonstrates your organization's determination and commitment to ongoing quality improvement. We applaud your leadership, staff and accreditation team members for their efforts and dedication to the provision of safe, quality health services."
Accreditation Canada advises all who require healthcare to look for an Accreditation Canada banner or certificate when they are at the health care organization. If the organization is accredited, you'll know they are proud to have been assessed by their peers, met or exceeded national standards of excellence, and continue to strive for excellence.
You will see the Menno Place Accreditation Canada certificate displayed proudly at the main entrance of Menno Hospital, Menno Home and within the Mennonite Benevolent Society Board Room. We are proud of our achievement in exceeding the most rigorous requirements and are committed to furthering a strong and sustainable focus on quality and safety within our walls.
