November 25, 2004 (PRLEAP.COM) Politics News
Fairfield, CT - Give2theTroops, Inc. has enlisted the dynamic energy of 'Elvis' to support the Connecticut-based non-profit organization whose mission is "to support the physical, moral, and spiritual health of America's armed forces in combat zones around the world through letters and packages shipped by caring volunteers.'

According to Give2theTroops Inc., President and Founder, Andi Grant , the inspiration for the far-reaching and innovative program came when her husband Brian, and his Marine reservist unit received their deployment orders for Operation Iraqi Freedom in December of 2002.

Las Vegas performer Steve Connolly ('Elvis') CD's, t-shirts, autographed pictures and money orders, derived from merchandise sales of Connolly's "Love Him Tender: Spirit of the King" 70th Birthday concert, set for The Berklee Performance Center, Boston, MA, January 8, 2005, will be sent to Give2theTroops for overseas shipping.

Money orders will help purchase items such as: toiletries, food, board games, frisbees, sunglasses, sporting equipment, toys, flashlights, white socks, postage / shipping costs, etc.

Connolly notes that the Presley- Give2theTroops promotion is appropriate because, for one, "I am very supportive of our troops and our country, as was Presley, who enlisted in the Army as a private in 1958, stationed in West Germany".

Give2theTroops is thankful to have a performer such as Steve Connolly, who represents the spirit of ‘Elvis', join our effort in the support of our Armed Forces.
