June 3, 2014 - Throughout the ages, it has often been said by travellers that "getting there is half the fun", and that the journey itself is just as important as arriving at your destination. One new app, Mystery Trip aims to change that into "getting there is ALL the fun".

Michael Rohr, the Australian who came up with the concept of Mystery Trip explains that "my core idea was for anyone in the world to be able to create their very own mystery trip in the location of their choosing." Fundamentally based on the concept of orienteering, Mystery Trip has updated this timeless skill for the social media age - showing just how social media can update and enhance old activities in new and fun ways.

The development and production of Mystery Trip in itself was a global adventure. The app received a successful funding of $17,865 at SellAnApp and was developed by Vedidev IT solutions. Collaborators in the Netherlands, Finland, Ukraine and Russia worked together to create a truly global app.

Mystery Trip works on a freemium model, where the app is free to download and premium features and unlockable require micro transaction payments. Some of the features included in Mystery Trip are:

  • Create your very own Mystery Trip and share with friends and other Mystery Trippers
  • Earn experience points to unlock rewards
  • Enjoy challenges set by other Mystery Trippers

  • These are just some of the features that users of Mystery Trip app will be able to enjoy, with more features coming soon. The app is scheduled for release on May 1st 2014 in the iTunes store. Why simply go from A to B, when there are so many things to see in C, D, E and F?
