Seed Sumo's Startup Accelerator Raising Eyebrows Nationally

BRYAN, TX – July 12, 2014 – Today Seed Sumo announced the progress their 7 seeded companies have made since the beginning of the program. The first 6 weeks, "teams were immersed into our mentor network trying to solidify their strategic direction," says Bryan Bulte, Managing Director at Seed Sumo.

After Skype calls, dozens of one on one meetings, speeches, and endless market research, the teams have now shifted to the execution stage of the program. This means "the teams are no longer trying to discover where they fit in the market but are now taking measurable steps to make their presence known," explained Bulte.

AskU provides a centralized platform for students to ask and answer questions about their university. Already having over half of the population at Texas A&M using AskAgs, AskU is additionally gaining amazing traction at UT with it's AskTexas brand.

Sportwip is best understood as a mileage program for your health. However, instead of solely targeting individual consumers they have shifted to focusing on companies as well. Making an early partnership with Nutrabolt, the employees now have an opportunity to compete against each other and win prizes after reaching certain athletic goals.

Gazoo's product is already being demoed in dozens of summer classes at Texas A&M University. Chris McDonald, COO of Gazoo says they "get feedback from students and professors on a weekly basis. Both the professor and the students are already seeing the benefits of their desktop in the cloud and the students claim that they love being able to access the university lab computer from any of their devices, anywhere."

Prepify, provides free SAT prep for lower class students and gives them the opportunity to have full access to SAT prep and enhance their chances of a college experience. Their first product will be launched July 18, 2014 and will include full diagnostic tests, full lessons, and a robust analytics suite to measure students' progress.

Two Cents has found a creative interface for entrepreneurs and mentors to interact and filter through each other to find the perfect match. It's unique algorithm's also allow an entrepreneur to search through the mentor's network to find (e.g. Who knows someone at Walgreens). With such a heavy emphasis in the startup world, Two Cents leverages their ties in startup communities to make the mentor process more automated and easy to manage.

reQwip is creating a trusted mobile and web marketplace for buying and selling new and used sports gear listed by individuals and shops. reQwip is making sports affordable and accessible, so that more aspiring and serious athletes can discover and excel in sports they love. They have created key partnerships with almost every key player in the Austin triathlon scene and launch next week in Austin. Have old sports equipment in your garage? "reQwip it."

The seventh team that was selected is a stealth team and is "killing it to say the least," explained DJ Monteilh, Seed Sumo's program manager. They will be announced publicly in a few weeks.

The program culminates September 4, 2014 with a Demo Day showcasing each start-up to hundreds of investors.
