October 24, 2014 - The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) will be holding their second annual undergraduate case study competition on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014 at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas. The competition is an exercise in finding a suitable solution for a hypothetical distressed loan portfolio owned by a commercial real estate property borrower.

Student/employee Stephanie Miles, an analyst with 1st Service Solutions, has been selected as the team captain representing the University of North Texas. "I'm very excited to have been selected team captain of UNT's four-person team in the upcoming ICSC competition," said Miles. "Working to find beneficial solutions for distressed commercial real estate borrowers is at the core of what we do at 1st Service Solutions and I hope to bring some crossover value to the competition based on my experience here," she added.

Teams participating in the ICSC University Case Study Competition will be presented with their scenarios on October 23rd and have until the Nov. 12th competition date to outline a strategy and solution for servicing the distressed assets. During the competition, each team is allotted 30 minutes to present their solutions to a panel of judges. The team judged to have the most insightful resolution will be declared the winner.

According to the ICSC, the benefits of competition participation include hands-on learning experience incorporating real world problem solving in the commercial real estate industry.

"We are extremely proud that Stephanie was chosen to represent her university in the ICSC competition," stated 1st Service Solutions CEO Ann Hambly. "We know that she will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to her team, much of which she's gained by working with us as an analyst. We hope it gives her a leg up on the competition and we'll definitely be rooting for her," she added.
