Local Fremont Dentist Enriches the Community by Educating Children about Good Dental Practices
February 19, 2015 (PRLEAP.COM) Health NewsFebruary 19, 2015 - Fremont, CA: Dr. Archana Gulati of Liberty Dental is reaching out to educate children in the Fremont community on the importance of good oral hygiene.
Dr. Gulati is visiting local daycares and giving presentations to children in order to educate them about oral hygiene. It is part of her ongoing commitment to making a difference in Fremont. During the presentation, she talks about the different aspects of caring for teeth. This includes using a model to show children how to brush their teeth and how long to brush.
She shares with children the dangers of consuming too many sugary foods and drinks, as well as the risks of snacking all day. Along with this, she gives them examples of healthy snacks and talks about how eating healthy foods can help to prevent cavities. Finally, she teaches the importance of getting regular dental cleanings.
"I want to do my part to start children on the right path," Dr. Gulati says. "If they learn good dental hygiene early, they can reduce their risk of cavities and other serious dental problems down the road."
She also hopes to be a friendly face, so that children can get to know a dentist and thereby overcome any anxiety they might have about checkups. By answering questions, she has a chance to put them at ease, so that they see their next dental appointment as a positive experience. She also sponsors a little league baseball team as an additional measure to put a friendly face to dentistry on what otherwise could be a fearful experience. Children who grow up seeing the dentist as a positive to good health will increase the success of preventative measures.
"I continue to look for ways to reach out to the community," she said. "I want to educate people about the importance of learning healthy habits early because it will make a significant difference for the rest of their lives."
