Ambient Podcaster Profile Hits Newspaper's Front Page

Ambient/electronica musician and podcast Mark Rushton was featured on the front page of the Cedar Rapids Gazette on Saturday, January 7th in a story by reporter Dave DeWitte. A scan of the article is available on the MarkRushton.com web site.

The feature was about Rushton's latest podcast, entitled "What Does An Iowa Winter Sound Like?" The music, 22 minutes long and in five different pieces, was created by Rushton and his musical collabertator, bassist Jon Harnish.

The podcast - available for free download at podcast.markrushton.com - is curated by Rushton, who talks about his experiences during the bitterly cold month of December 2005. The music is mostly a calming and soothing blend of ambient sounds, field recordings, and samples of live instrumentation designed to describe the bleak and gaunt landscape of rural Iowa during winter.

Rushton has had a lot of positive feedback about the podcast, which has garnered nearly 1000 downloads in the first five days of being available on the internet.
