May 23, 2015 - The Arboretum Village has won the Merit Award (Category 3: Building $5 - $10MM) from TEXO, the north and east Texas chapter of AGC and ABC.

In April 2015, this project received the Dallas Business Journal's 2014 "Best Real Estate Deal" Award (retail / restaurant category).

Bob Moore Construction was the general contractor for Arboretum Village, an 80,000 SF multi-tenant retail location in Dallas owned by Lincoln Property Company. Built to accommodate up to eight separate stores, the Arboretum Village plaza is a complete renovation and rebuild of an existing multi-use structure constructed in the late 1960s.

The Arboretum Village is built with a blend of brick and CMU walls, which were left from the existing building, and new tilt-up construction for the front face of the building.

Work included demolishing the front 80 feet of the building, stripping the interior to structural level, restoring and refinishing the remaining walls and rebuilding and finishing the front wall. The tiltwall panels across the front were created with varying heights and finished with combinations of stone, plaster EIFS, paint and metal canopies to present eight different design patterns that help to delineate the various stores.

The project included the complete removal of the existing parking lot, which was replaced with 250,000 SF of new parking lots and drive lanes around the building.

The new plaza includes three anchor stores The Fresh Market, PetSmart and Ace Hardware, along with other retail outlets.
"We are very proud that Arboretum Village was recognized with this award," said Kyle Whitesell, Executive Vice President for Bob Moore Construction. "TEXO's competition included 2014's best construction projects in north and east Texas, and it's exciting to have Arboretum Village earn recognition in this very competitive field. The fact that this project has been recognized twice, from a construction perspective as well as for its impact on the Dallas real estate market, indicates how unique and successful it really was.

"Our team of superintendents, subcontractors, architects and owners deserve this recognition," added Mr. Whitesell. "The two awards validate what this group of professionals was able to accomplish; Arboretum Village was a challenging project and the entire team worked together extremely well to make it such a success."

The trophy for the TEXO Merit Award will be presented in December at TEXO's winter banquet.
