Minneapolis Dental Office Using the Latest Tool to Help Fight Gum Disease

June 09, 2015 (PRLEAP.COM) Health News
June 9, 2015 - Minneapolis, MN - Dr. Mark Wilson of Metropolitan Periodontists, P.A. is very pleased to announce that his dental practice is now using a Periscope to identify and treat gum disease.

"We started using the Periscope earlier this year," said Dr. Wilson. "And so far the results have been fantastic."

A Periscope uses a tiny camera along with video, lighting, and magnification technology to find bacteria below the gum line. That bacteria are then removed with microultrasonics, which are small probes powered ultrasonically.

"With our Periscope, we can now clean further below the gum line and around the roots better than ever before," Dr. Wilson said. "Our trained hygienists can also target bacteria from deep within the diseased pockets. As a result, our patients receive a more thorough cleaning that can stop gum disease from progressing."

One of the best parts of the Periscope, Dr. Wilson said, is that the recovery period is usually about 24 hours, which means patients can get back to their regular lives quickly.

"Gum disease can be very serious," Dr. Wilson added. "But the Periscope is a very effective way for us to find it early and then give it the necessary treatment."
