PAYMENT RANGER SET TO CHANGE HOW CARS ARE SOLD

Richmond, Va. — Payment Ranger LLC, a start up company based near Richmond, Virginia, has scheduled the national introduction of its innovative handheld shopping tool for the 2006 NADA convention in Orlando.
The handheld unit, a uniquely programmed Symbol MC50 PDA device, scans and recognizes the bar code of any new or used vehicle in a dealership’s inventory. The vehicle identification number is then instantly transmitted by a wireless local area network to a host server which then calculates the best payment estimate for that individual customer and then returns that result for display on the PDA. Because the prepared estimate takes into account the customer’s own credit rating, down payment, and trade information, the resulting payment display will be very accurate in estimating just what each particular customer can expect to pay.
Designed by a car sales professional to make car shopping easier and more fun for the customer, Payment Ranger LLC has not ignored the needs of the dealership. “Each dealership retains complete control of the deal’s parameters”, says Michael Crites, the unit’s inventor. “For each customer, the dealership selects which APRs and terms to use, as well as the wholesale trade values, and what pricing level should apply. Although the whole process is completely automated, it’s really no different than having your best tower manager prepare the figures for each customer on each and every car.”
The Payment Ranger™ takes into account any special coupons or pricing levels for which the customer may qualify. Each set of payment calculations compares any rebate deal along with normal financing to the low APR offers available to the combo cash offers to the lease and balloon payment results and then chooses among those to arrive at the preferred payment result, typically the lowest payment, all within just a couple of seconds. The system adapts for credit union members, special finance shoppers, cash buyers, and even for those whom English is a second language. Payment Ranger allows a customer to compare certified used cars to used vehicles to new in order to select which car, truck, or sport utility vehicle will fit the customer’s budget and yet be the best choice for them.
“I’m excited about the Payment Ranger,” says Mr. Crites, “because this will be good for the customer and the dealership. If more customers find it easy to go to their car dealership to shop and browse, it can only be good for everyone.”
