Ring in New Year with Gourmio as it celebrates London launch of gourmet recipe boxes from Italy

December 22, 2015 (PRLEAP.COM) Lifestyle News
December 22, 2015 - THE TREND for home-delivered recipe boxes is set to go 'gourmet' in 2016 with traditional ingredients and recipes from Italy. It is the first time a recipe box features fine, artisan food of a single country.

Every home-delivered box comes packed with delicious, authentic ingredients from Italy along with step-by-step recipe cards to cook gourmet Italian meals easily at home.

Gourmio's high quality boxes contain hand-selected ingredients and recipes from across Italy's beautiful food regions. Stories about artisans who spend years crafting their products are included and consumers can also read about the tradition and heritage of Gourmio's speciality ingredients – some of which date back to the Romans!

Making gourmet Italian easy!
Gourmio's recipes come in six steps and give consumers the confidence to cook the real food of Italy at home. Dishes created by our chefs in Italy are perfect for a mid-week treat or a special weekend meal to relax and enjoy at home. In taste trials, food-lovers said they loved having the opportunity to cook with new ingredients while learning more about the history of Italian food.

Gourmio's Marco Sargiani said his idea came about while eating burrata on holiday in Puglia – burrata is the delicious, fresh cheese of Puglia. Sargiani wanted a way to help some of Italy's 75,000 producers of speciality ingredients to export abroad and to demonstrate Italy's traditional food. His own family has been making award-winning "aceto balsamico tradizionale" vinegar in Modena since the 1700s. (Learn more here)

"At Gourmio we are so passionate about where our ingredients come from and through our recipe boxes we marry authenticity with wonderful recipes, so you can cook and enjoy the real flavours of Italy at home," said Sargiani. To guarantee absolute freshness, Gourmio also selects from quality British suppliers for recipes that require fresh produce.

Hand-selected products
It takes at least three months for Gourmio's recipes to be launched. They are first hand-selected by our chefs and then delicious recipes created and tested for safety and quality. Gourmio's first recipes, a collection of traditional and new dishes, are available now at gourmio.co.uk.

These include our classic Ember-grilled Beef Brasato Pot Roast. Head chef Gianluca Zocca uses Fassona heritage beef from Piemonte, which is marinated in red wine then slow-cooked to make it tender, succulent and packed full of flavour.

"While you save time in preparation we give you additional ingredients and steps to enhance our sauces your way," said Zocca. There are also classic risottos and a deliciously bold pappardelle dish with wild boar ragu.
