February 25, 2016 - The list of some of Pittsburgh's biggest events for 2016 has been released by the DoubleTree Pittsburgh Downtown, the city's premier hotel in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh. The hotel is looking towards events that will attract thousands of visitors from throughout the country and break last year's record of $5.6 billion tourist dollars.

It is expected that Downtown Pittsburgh hotel specials will make the city an even more attractive destination this year, so for those planning a trip with major events in mind, reviewing the DoubleTree list of must-see events and planning around them is advisable.

The events happening in 2016 are definitely going to attract attention. Two of the notable events on the DoubleTree list involve food and drink. As last year Zagat named Pittsburgh 2015's Top Food City, Restaurant Week 2016 is going to get serious attention from the culinary industry and community, with expectations of breakout new dishes and much more. Along with Restaurant Week 2016, Pittsburgh's Winter and Summer BeerFest show off the city's rich craft beer culture along with new and classic beers at local breweries, microbreweries, and pubs.

Pittsburgh's art and culture are getting more attention every year, and DoubleTree's list includes three major artistic and cultural celebrations. A growing and increasingly popular tradition is also developing in Lawrenceville's Art All Night celebration, an all-night gallery of local art and artists that goes on well into the next day. The open-art celebration is huge, and represents the best of Pittsburgh's artistic community. Tourists staying in hotels in downtown Pittsburgh will also be able to participate in the Dollar Bank Three Rivers Art Festival and the Thrival Music and Innovation Festival as well.

For those looking for a more unique take on art and culture, Pittsburgh's Renaissance Fair will be held over six weekends this year, helping visitors travel back in time to experience culture in a whole new way.

Those with downtown Pittsburgh accommodations looking for new sports can find two events on this year's list as well. The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is a unique race involving some of the rarest and finest vintage racers as they race across the hills and valleys of Schenley Park. The other, the 2016 Dick's Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon, is expected to attract thousands of runners and many more well-wishers throughout all of Pittsburgh's beautiful neighborhoods.
