February 26, 2016 - Myrtle Beach, South Carolina - The Executive Committee of the Robert M. Clinger III Invitational Golf Tournament released the results of the 10th annual tournament contested on Monday, February 15, 2016 at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This year's Invitational once again featured a field of fifty-nine competitors and the customary unfavorable weather conditions including a high temperature of only 43 degrees, stiff winds, and heavy rain.

The defending champions, Chris Abraham, Rich Abraham, Rich O'Brien, and Patrick O'Brien, retained the Obelisk of Victory with a score of 67, (-5). The second place team finished with a score of 68 (-4) and consisted of Robert M. Clinger III, Steve Vogel, Larry Yarnell, and Paul Weddle. The third place team, finishing at two under par, consisted of Tommy Brittain, David Gravely, Erick Ficken, and Alex Chestnut.

Following completion of the tournament, the players, family and friends gathered for the awards ceremony and celebration gala event featuring the Palm Beach Society Orchestra. At the awards ceremony, the Executive Committee honored Chuck Fitch with the Perfect Participation Award in recognition of his participation in all ten Invitational tournaments. The only other golfer to compete in each of The Invitational events is Robert M. Clinger III.

Mr. Clinger issued the following statement at the conclusion of the event:

"Despite the course closure due to cold weather in the days leading up to this event and the terrible weather conditions today, I'm pleased with The Invitational this year. The tenth anniversary is a very meaningful event, and the excitement and enthusiasm of everyone here has been palpable over the last few days. I think everyone enjoyed themselves today, despite the weather, and there's even a bit of sadness that this year's event and the celebration are coming to a close.

If anyone had told me ten years ago when we were struggling to get four or five teams together that we would be standing here at the Dunes Club having a tenth anniversary gala with such a large field of players from all over the world and from all walks of life, the Palm Beach Society Orchestra entertaining us, and a record turnout for the awards ceremony, I would have laughed. I never dreamed we would make it ten years, let alone that this event would be what it is today. We've come a long way from our humble beginnings of this tournament, and I'm forever grateful for all those players who have made this tournament what it is over the years.

You see, this tournament isn't about me, and it never has been about me. This tournament is not about any one person. No one person is bigger than The Invitational because this tournament is about friendships, old and new, and the fellowship that we have each year and that we have had for many years. The Invitational is about escaping the rigors of daily life, turning off the cells phones, and removing the distractions in life for a few hours so that we can enjoy the company of friends during a round of golf.

We've been through so much to get to this point, and this tournament wouldn't happen without the support of the players year in and year out. I'm grateful for the hard work and efforts of Dennis Nicholl, our head professional here at the Dunes Club, all of his staff, our great maintenance staff who make sure the course is set up for tournament play, Nicole Guy, our clubhouse manager, and the outstanding staff here in the clubhouse who give us world class meals and service. None of this would happen without the combined efforts and dedication of all these people. For all the support they and the players have given to this tournament over the years, I can only say 'Thank You.'"

The Executive Committee indicated that no action has been taken regarding The Invitational 2017.

Photographs from the tournament are currently being added to the Invitational's website, www.ClingerInvitational.com.
