Gregg Baxter Joins First Transit as Vice President of Rail

May 18, 2016 - CINCINNATI — First Transit announces the appointment of Gregg Baxter as vice president of rail. In this new role, Baxter will support all rail initiatives in North America. Baxter will also assist in the development and support of First Transit's international rail operations.

"Gregg brings a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of rail operations," said Brad Thomas, president of First Transit. "He has a proven track record within the public transportation industry."

Baxter has more than 25 years of rail transportation experience in areas such as operations, customer service, safety and business development. His past roles include serving as the director of operations for the San Joaquin Regional Commission and as assistant general manager of road operations for the California Corridor at Amtrak. He also was a professor of railroad technologies at Los Rios Community College District at Sacramento City College. He was most recently President of Keolis Rail Services America, Inc.

Baxter earned a bachelor's degree in transportation and logistics from the University of Maryland and a master's of science degree in intermodal transportation management from the University of Denver.
