SURF Communication Solutions® (“Surf”), a leading developer of high-capacity multimedia processing boards, announced that Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC®)’s INTERNET TELEPHONY® magazine (www.itmag.com) has named its SurfRider-812/PTMC DSP resource board as a recipient of a 2005 Product of the Year Award. INTERNET TELEPHONY has been the VoIP Authority™ since 1998.

The SurfRider-812/PTMC is a fully integrated PTMC DSP resource board providing heavy-duty processing capabilities for developers of telecom, military, medical and other processing-intensive applications, such as video processing, VoIP, cryptography, and medical imaging. The board houses up to eight Texas Instruments TMS320C6412 DSPs and is supplied with multiple drivers and a variety of interfaces, including 100MB Ethernet. It is fully PMC- and PTMC-compliant, compatible with a wide range of host platforms, and integrates with PCI and cPCI carrier boards, and ATCA chassis. Developers can choose to work with the DSP/BIOS™ supplied by TI, or leverage the operating system supplied by Surf to gain enhanced feature support and greatly reduce development time.

“Its exceptional processing power and multiple interface options make the SurfRider‑812/PTMC resource board an ideal solution for OEM manufacturers who develop processing-intensive applications,” states Amir Zmora, VP Marketing, Surf Communication Solutions.“Developers of telecom infrastructure equipment can benefit from the unique media processing features available on this board. The ability to run audio, video, fax and modem data as well as IP/UDP and H.223 for 3G-324M simultaneously and dynamically on the same DSP provides our customers with unmatched flexibility and quality due to the minimal delay and bottleneck-free architecture.”

“Each year INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine bestows its Product of the Year awards on companies that have demonstrated excellence in technological advancement and application refinements. Surf has demonstrated to the editors of INTERNET TELEPHONY that its products or services are committed to quality and innovation while addressing the real needs in the marketplace,” said Rich Tehrani, Group Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of INTERNET TELEPHONY.

“With Surf’s SurfRider-812/PTMC, telecom equipment manufacturers are empowered to leverage the processing performance of TI’s C6412 DSP to deliver high-quality, cost-effective products with powerful Triple-Play media processing capabilities,” Danny Petkevich, C6000 Platform Marketing Manager, TI. “TI applauds Surf’s continued success in meeting developers' needs and is thrilled that the SurfRider-812/PTMC has been recognized for its outstanding performance and numerous benefits to telecom developers.”
