Director pledges donation to British Heart Foundation.


Paul feels passionately that children of all ages should exercise regularly and be encouraged by their parents to do so. His motivation is driven from his personal experience of his daughter Lara, undergoing open heart surgery for a congenital heart problem. He stated, "I've had first hand experience of what it is like to sit and wait outside a hospital operating theatre whilst your child is undergoing open heart surgery and it is not something that I would wish anyone to go through. Whatever you choose as a gift for your child this Christmas, choose something that brings about activity in your child to benefit their future health.'

Lara, who now supplements her performing arts and dance studies by working part-time at Car Bazar as a Gift Monkey, underwent her heart surgery at the tender age of seven. After her surgery, which was due to a hole in her heart, the consultant surgeon advised that she should always maintain an exercise regime and never smoke.

Now fully recovered, Lara and the rest of the Car Bazar team have pledged to make a £5.00 donation from the sale of every pedal or rocking car to the British Heart Foundation. They believe that these cars are a ‘fun for your heart' choice for both boys and girls under the age of 5. Once kids sit in these cars they're well on the road to hours of healthy fun.

Kathee Coonerty, Area Organiser for the BHF in Gloucestershire said, "As a charity we're reliant upon voluntary donations to continue our fight against the UK's biggest killer. We are grateful to Car Bazar for their support which will help us fund research, patient care and life-saving equipment in the community."

Paul added that, "with so many computer games and television shows on offer over the festive season physical activity can drastically reduce. Couple this with the array of festive foods and drinks and you could have a highly inactive child on your hands.' The trick is to balance a healthy diet with relaxation and physical activity. Hopefully this will become a habit; something that the kids want to do. The built in stability of pedal cars with their four wheels and the rocking cars - whilst still needing supervision - provide a safe environment in which to play and get exercise in and out of the home.

Lara is grateful to enjoy her life and has stated that, "If parents can educate their children through fun and games it can mean so much to their health and future lifestyles. I have had that background and am now able to pursue and enjoy a very physically demanding area of study.'
